On June, 2 2011, 64 graduates of MD-programs in English at the Medical University of Lodz received their diplomas during the graduation ceremony. 20 graduated from the 6-MD program and 44 from the 4-MD. The ceremony gathered over 400 people among whom were relatives of some of the graduates sometimes form very distant countries like Nigeria, Pakistan, South Africa, Canada, USA and Taiwan.
The ceremony was attended by the University authorities Vicerector - Prof. Anna Jegier, the Faculty Dean - Prof. Zbigniew Baj, Vicedean - Prof. Dariusz Moczulski.
The Master of Ceremony was Vicedean - Prof. Andrzej Lubiński.
The Graduation Ceremony gathered many VIP guests among whom were the MUL’s professors and officials from the Voivod’s Office, Department of Civil and Foreign Affairs represented by the foreign affair officer Mariola Iskrzyńska-Strzałka. Vicerector of the Academy of Management and Director of the Clark University Programs in Poland Prof. Łukasz Sułkowski honored the event with his presence and the cordial congratulations for the graduates.
The culmination of the event was the Hippocratic Oath taken by the prospective doctors. Thereafter the diplomas were handed. Students outstanding in education and social activity received honor roll certificates, souvenirs and a standing ovation.
The outstanding students (Lin Hsin-Pei, Taiwan, David Fam, Canada, Olufemi Aoko, Nigeria and Tabe Clement, USA) delivered speeches in which they shared their memories of the years spent in Łódź and of the time of studies at MUL. They talked about the challenges of further medical education and the hardships of the doctoral career.
The graduates were honored by younger years' students, the representatives of the MUL Student and Alumni Association. The chior sang Gaudeamus igitur for the last time for this year's graduates.
